Many creative entrepreneurs are doing everything they’re told to do.

They’re posting on Instagram, showing up on LinkedIn, sending emails, networking, and still wondering why the results don’t match the effort.

In this episode of the ICONIK CEO Podcast, Nikisha King breaks down a truth most people skip over when it comes to lead generation: the problem often isn’t visibility, it’s who you’re talking to.

This conversation dives into the Identify Your People phase of the R.I.S.E. framework and explains why your message can feel like it’s floating in the air, heard by everyone and landing with no one. When your visibility isn’t focused, your content becomes easy to scroll past, even when it’s valuable.

Nikisha explains how lead generation improves when entrepreneurs stop performing for “everyone” and start connecting deeply with the right people. This episode reframes identifying your audience, not as limiting your business, but as anchoring your message so it finally lands.

If your content feels inconsistent, your engagement feels low, or inquiries don’t reflect the work you’re putting in, this episode will help you understand what’s really happening and how to shift it.

Questions that are answered in this episode:

  1. Why posting more doesn’t automatically create more leads?
  2. How unclear messaging keeps you invisible, even when you’re showing up?
  3. What it really means to “identify your people” beyond demographics?
  4. Why emotional and behavioral clarity creates stronger connections?
  5. How focused visibility turns content into conversations, and conversations into clients?

Announcer:

Welcome with your host and business guru, Nakisha King. This podcast is the ultimate destination for women creative entrepreneurs who want to break free from burnout.

If you are overwhelmed by client demands and feel like you're doing this all alone, you, my friend, are in the right place. Now let's dive in for steps to take back your time and some simplify your workflow.

Nikisha King:

All right, Nikisha, take it away. Hello and welcome to iconic CEO, where free spirits come to fall in love with systems.

My name is Nikisha and I am your sales and systems guru, AKA coach, AKA consultant. And I love being an iconic CEO. Why? Because I get to create amazing experiences for you, for the people I care about.

So welcome back, welcome back to my beautiful series of Invisible to visible. And this is where I teach you about the Rise framework in this amazing membership. So.

So if you've been following this series, you know we are not treating visibility like a trend or a tactic. We are definitely treating it like a transformation. In episode one, I talked about the experience of being visible and what it used to cost me.

What was the payment I had to make to become visible? A transition of a full time mom from going to working. And that episode was dynamic.

We had so, so many people listen and download because I know who you are. I'm very aware of what and how you're identifying in this current time of your transition.

In episode two, right before this episode, if you want to go back, we talked about judgment and the R and the rise framework. To reveal your identity and know how or how knowing who you are. Quiet. The noise of other people's opinion. Yes, we're talking about family.

We're talking about your partner, we're talking about friends. And let me tell you a secret. The reason they're judging you, the reason they are telling you to play it safe is because they want to keep you secure.

You ever saw the show called Croods? It's a cartoon. My kids, my family, my husband, we all love it. And in the first one, the father is driven to keep his daughter in the cave.

And he tells a story about when someone did something and they died. And he puts his bloody fingerprints, it's like red paint on everything. Die, die, die. Our family sees us like that.

So their judgment, their opinions is not from a place of jealousy. Sometimes it's just a place from security. So today we are moving into the next piece of the Rise framework.

And this one is where a lot of women quietly get stuck. This is the I and the rise and it stands for identify your people. Now why do I say women?

I say women not because I'm pinpointing you, but because I love you. I'm really in love with my women entrepreneurs. I freaking want them to rise and win. Because when we do, we rise as a community. We shift things.

We've seen it in a lot of people we look up to. We've seen it in our Oprahs. We've seen it in our gals. We've seen it in the woman, Sarah Blakely. Not Sarah Blakely.

That's the actress I'm talking about. The other Sarah who does the. Oh, she has sneaks now, but she did the body wear.

We see it so much in so many women entrepreneurs who have risen and how much they're giving back. We see it in Tori, of course, I forget that. Tory Burch. Yes. The last thing, I am not good when it comes to names of brands because I don't focus.

I know by people's names, but not those top brands. But that's why I speak to women. Let's get back to this. The I and rise. It stands for the identity or identifying your people.

Because once you start revealing who you are, the next question becomes, who am I here to serve and who am I here to speak to? That's why this part is important.

If your message has ever felt like it's floating in the air with no one really catching it, then this episode is for you. So now let's talk about why when you're showing up, it still feels like not working or why it feels like it is working.

Now, let's be honest for a second.

In this podcast, in this moment, I know you can be posting, talking on Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, going to networking events, writing emails, doing all the things, using all of that energy, right? And you are feeling like you're doing so much for a little bit of return and all the things a visibility coach tells you to do.

And you're still feeling invisible. You still feel like no one's engaging, no one's booking you, no one's taking action. And you start asking yourself, why is no one really responding?

Why does it feel like I am talking to everyone and no one at the same time? Why do my views not match the work I'm putting in? Why are people liking my content? But they're not inquiring and they're not booking me.

And most of the time, the problem is not that you are not visible enough. The problem is that your visibility isn't focused. You were talking, but you do not fully know who you're talking to.

So your message ends up floating around in space. And the people who need you the most never quite know you are speaking to them. Did you hear that?

The people who need you most, they're never quite sure you're speaking to them. And this is why the eye in my rise framework, identify your people is so important. So inside my invisible to visible.

When we work on this beautiful I, which stands for identify your people, we understand who your signature client is at a deeper emotional and behavioral level. We're not here just about the demographics, the age, the location and the income. Yes, that's important, but we get a little bit deeper.

This is about knowing what keeps her up at night. What is he tired of pretending is okay, what they really want, but is scared to say out loud what they have already tried that did not work.

What she believes about herself and her business, what he is craving from someone like you. When you identify your people at the deeper level, your messaging starts to shift. And sometimes doing that identification is not a one person show.

I promise you. If you sit there all day and try to answer the questions, you're getting your head and you won't think you're right.

Because as people who want to get it right the first time, we feel like we're never getting it right. Because if we did, why is no one booking me? Why is no one engaging with me?

But in your messaging, when we want to start to shift, we have to go deeper.

So when we go deeper, you're no longer throwing content into the ear, but you're having a direct conversation with someone specific, someone you actually understand, someone you actually know. Your visibility stops feeling like a performance and it start feeling like connection. In this moment, you are connecting.

So let us talk about why this part feels uncomfortable. Why is it uncomfortable to identify your person? Why so many women or you or men or they avoid choosing their people?

A lot of solopreneurs resist getting specific because it feels like you're giving something up. You might hear yourself say this exact thing. If I niche down, I will lose people, AKA I will lose money.

If I do not want to exclude, I do not want to exclude anyone. I can help everybody. I can help anyone. What if I choose wrong? Oh, that one is one I know really well. What if I choose the wrong person to focus on?

What if I get bored with that one person? Oh my goodness, that would be dreadful, wouldn't it? But underneath all of that is usually a fear.

The fear of not having enough clients, the fear of missing out on money. The fear of making the wrong choice, the fear of committing. So you stay wide. You stay vague. You stay open to the 8 billion people in the world.

And in that wide openness, your message becomes soft, general, and easy to scroll past by. Let's face it, when you speak to everyone, you connect with no one. When you try to be safe, you become forgettable.

Identifying your people is not about excluding, it's about anchoring. It gives your message a beautiful home. When you identify your people, your message will be ignited.

In choosing to truly, truly take the time to identify your people, something powerful will happen. Something powerful will happen in your messaging. Your content stops sounding like information and starts sounding like recognition.

Your favorite amazing client hears you and thinks, that is me. She's talking about my life. She understands my world. Here is what shifts when you identify your people at an emotional and behavioral level.

Your examples become so specific they're relatable. Your stories sound like their stories. Your language mirrors the way they actually talk and think.

Your offers feel like an answer to a question they have been holding on for years.

Your calls to action feel natural, not pushy, because you are inviting the right person into the right room, into the right community, into the right space. Visibility becomes less about output and more about connection. And connection takes work. Output doesn't. It feels like it, but it doesn't.

You do not need to scream to be heard when you're speaking directly to the right ears. Did you hear that? You do not need to scream when you're speaking directly to the right ears.

And I want to leave you with a few questions to sit with, journal on, or take on a walk with you. Think about your favorite client you wish you had a room full of? What is he? She? They secretly tired of carrying a loan?

What is the sentence they say in their head a thousand times but never posted online? What are they afraid will happen if nothing changes in the next year, next six months, or next three months?

What does success actually look like to her or him or they in their life? Not the Internet version. What makes her feel seen and safe with you? What does he wish someone would finally help him solve?

The more honest you are in answering these, the more clearly your people will come into focus. And once your people are clear, your message becomes clearer. The content becomes easier to create.

Your offer becomes easier to sell too, at any price. Your visibility starts to feel aligned instead of force.

So far in this invisible to visible series, we have talked about the R to reveal your identity, who you are at your core. That voice, your eye to identify Your people who you are here to serve at a deep emotional level.

In our next episode we're going to move into the S in the rise show up with confidence. We will talk about what it really looks like to be seen without feeling like you are too much.

How to walk into rooms and online spaces with grounded confidence. And how to show up in a way that feels true to who you are, especially as a creative or a service provider.

Because once you know who you are and who you are here for, the next step is letting yourself actually be seen by them. Now here's the thing.

If this episode was very insightful to you and it helped you realize your visibility problem might really be who am I talking to problem, then I want to invite you and a friend and you can share this with other friends and invite them to but I want to invite you into a space where we do just that. We work on and we build your visibility in the invisible to visible 12 month membership. It is where we walk the rise framework together in real time.

I said walk, right? And I am saying walk meaning we walk in action and we use that rise framework together in real time.

You will learn how to reveal your identity so judgment and self doubt can quiet down. We learn how to identify your people so your message finally lands with who you are meant to serve.

You're not here to serve 8 billion people, but you can serve 500 million. You're here to show up with confidence online and in rooms you enter. Especially if you are an introvert. We got you.

I understand and I promise I will take care of you. We elevate through systems.

Simple systems like follow up systems, messaging, workflows that help you turn conversations into clients for creative women.

For entrepreneurs who are in the service industries, especially those who are entering our market as entrepreneurs, of those who are ready for more consistent leads, this becomes a game changer. Instead of guessing what to post, you speak directly to the hearts of the people you are here for.

Instead of hoping someone inquires, you build a visibility rhythm that draws your right people in. Instead of feeling like an invisible expert, you begin to feel like a visible trusted leader in your space.
